Core Stability and Body Weight Strength Training for Girls and Nonbinary Teens
Interested in learning how to begin strength training? Currently exercising, but not sure if you are doing it properly? Looking to crosstrain for your sport this summer? Want to exercise with a group of your peers in a noncompetitive and supportive atmosphere?
Grab a friend and join us to learn proper form for core stability and strength exercises with body weight and band resistance. We will cover exercises like squats, lunges, planks, deadbugs and more with focus on proper technique. Each class will explain proper movement patterns, involved circuit-style training, and cool down stretches. Prior knowledge/experience of this type of exercise is not required. Bring a yoga mat or beach towel.
Program director is Andrea Barberio, PT, DPT, C-IAYT, a licensed physical therapist and certified yoga therapist and principal of Mindful Movement located in Swarthmore.
WHEN: Thursdays, June 8, 15, 22, 29, and July 13, and 20 from 5:30-6:30 pm (make up date: Monday, July 17th from 5:30-6:30)
WHO: Girls/non-binary in rising grades 8-12
WHERE: Rutgers Side Field
WHAT: Bring a yoga mat or beach towel
REGISTRATION FEE: $75, or $15 a session
